From an early age I realised that the visual world held a fascination for me as I looked at my surroundings and asked myself - Would it make an interesting photo? How can I make others see the beauty I'm seeing?
I further realised that I get lost in the moment of taking a photograph and that excited and energized me. I wanted to explore further, to capture more of the essence of the moment and the beauty of the subject I was photographing.
My photography evolved from capturing moments with a compact film camera to using a digital SLR camera. I'm grateful for the time I've spent photographing with a film SLR camera, as you had to take time seeing and composing your image before you pressed the button. The digital age has great advantages, as it allows for more experimenting to get just the right image.
After several years in corporate, I opted to finally pursue my dreams and during 2008 became a part-time photographer. The big step of making photography my full-time career, came in October 2009.
I've had the opportunity to do corporate photography for companies such as SAB and Flotek, sport photography for SportCam (Walk the Talk, 94.7 Cycle Challenge, FastOne), coverage of junior golf tournaments (SA/Little Kids Golf, Tomorrows Golfers and Young Golfers), theatre photography (mZansi Productions), corporate events (FosterWheeler) and wedding photography.
Finally my life-long passion has become my everyday reality and life - capturing the beauty, colours, emotions, moments and stories of life.
Every week brings new opportunities, expanding my portfolio and I look forward to each one of them with camera in hand.
